Writer's Side, India's first professional manuscript assessment service, is the brainchild of Kanishka Gupta, formerly an editor with a literary agency and a popular arts magazine. He has worked as the head of a men 's lifestyle portal. He has also worked with a publishing house as a freelance consultant. He is particularly interested in literary fiction and strong, relevant non-fiction.
At Writer's Side, our team of skilled and proficient readers will give valuable and realistic assessment of manuscripts, both fiction and non-fiction. Apart from that, starting from Jan 2009 we will also be representing a very select list of authors in India and UK Our assessment module consists of four aspects:Manuscript Reading - This is the most basic service provided at Writer's Side. Here, our reader will read the manuscript and provide you feedback on its creative and market potential. Manuscript Critique - The Manuscript Critiquing service will provide a comprehensive critique of the manuscript. It will give a detailed report on the manuscript in terms of plot, relevance, characterization, narrative technique and marketability. Manuscript Editing - This is the most comprehensive service provided at Writer's Side. It includes: 1) Proofreading 2) Line Editing 3) Substantive editing What We Are NotWe are not publishers. We are professional readers and editors who feel that there are many manuscripts being written in India that are not quite ready, but are still very promising. Our services can turn these manuscripts from promising to publishable.
